A Performance Analysis of Different Sar Tomographic Processing Techniques for Urban Areas
نویسندگان
چکیده
A single SAR image provides 2D reflectivity along slant range and azimuth coordinates. The reflectivity in elevation is not explicitly imaged, as the backscattered echos from multiple targets at the same range distance are superposed into the same range-azimuth resolution cell despite their different elevation coordinates. Layover distortions occur frequently, particularly in urban areas. SAR tomography extends this conventional 2D imaging scenario to 3D, alleviating the layover problem. It forms a synthetic aperture along the elevation direction using a stack of multiple SAR images acquired from different look angles. Various tomographic inversion techniques have been proposed to extract the elevation profiles. The performance of these techniques is influenced by various practical issues, such as a limited number of baselines, lack of uniformity of baselines, decorrelation and other phase noise, etc. In this paper, we present a comparative performance analysis among some of these inversion techniques, viz. beamforming, singular-value-decomposition approaches and the CAPON spectral estimation.

Determination of height of urban buildings based on non-parametric estimation of signal spectrum in SAR data tomography
Nowadays, the TomoSAR technique has been able to overcome the limitations of radar interferometry techniques in separating multiple scatterers of pixels. By extending the principles of virtual aperture in the elevation direction, these techniques pay much attention in the analysis of urban challenging areas. Despite the expectation of interference of the distribution of buildings with different...
متن کاملVery High Resolution Parametric and Non- Parametric Sartomography Methods for Monitoring Urban Areas Structures
Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) is the only way to evaluate deformation of the Earth’s surface from space on the order of centimeters and millimeters due to its coherent nature and short wavelengths. Hence, by this means the long term risk monitoring and security are performed as precisely as possible. Traditional SAR imaging delivers a projection of the 3-D object to the two dimensional (2-D) a...

Land cover is defined as the physical material of the surface of the earth, including different vegetation covers, bare soil, water surface, various urban areas, etc. Land cover and its changes are very important and influential on the Earth and life of living organisms, especially human beings. Land cover change monitoring is important for protecting the ecosystem, forests, farmland, open spac...
متن کاملAutomatic road crack detection and classification using image processing techniques, machine learning and integrated models in urban areas: A novel image binarization technique
The quality of the road pavement has always been one of the major concerns for governments around the world. Cracks in the asphalt are one of the most common road tensions that generally threaten the safety of roads and highways. In recent years, automated inspection methods such as image and video processing have been considered due to the high cost and error of manual metho...
متن کاملCombining SAR tomography and a PSI approach for high- resolution 3-D imaging of an urban area
Combining persistent scatterer interferometry (PSI) and SAR tomography approaches has the potential to overcome layover scenarios in urban areas and may thus increase the level of detail of differential interferometric measurements of displacements in such environments. In this paper, we report the current status and results of our efforts to integrate SAR tomography into an operational interfe...
